Banksy, Kaws and some good food

This morning we got to “sleep in” – we didnt have to be anywhere until 10am – so we got to take a leisure morning. Our first stop was a museum called Moco – it is a modern art museum that has two of my favorite artists and I learned had many more!!

From original Banksy’s to Kaws to Dali and Warhol. It also housed Robbie Williams (yes, that Robbie Williams) and the Kid. I LOVED this museum. It was small and only took about an hour to get through, but it was PERFECT! I loved it.

After the museum we decided to do a bit of a stroll to find some snacks on our way to the Boqueria Market for lunch. We found the BEST gluten free bakery called Chok – would 1000% recommend this even if you arent gluten free. After enjoying (and taking pictures of) our wonderful gluten free delights we found a bar called Especiarium. What a VIBE!!

After the bar we headed to the market for lunch. The market had everything – veggies, fruits, fish, meat, candy (the most important), fruit juice, olives, etc. And then it also had little tiny restaurants and bars inside. We were able to find a place at one of the bars that served food. Another GREAT restaurant find on this trip.

On the way out Lauren got a cup of strawberries and Nutella and I got a Nutella empanada. We headed back to the hotel to relax a bit before our vermouth class tonight.

After our little resting period, it was off to the vermouth class. The instructor was very passionate and fun. We learned all sorts of history of vermouth (news flash, it was created to help sell wine abroad, because they add a stabilizer to regular wine). After our educational tasting, we then got to create our OWN vermouth. As someone who isnt a huge drinker, I wasnt very excited I could come up with anything good – but I was wrong. It was great! Citrus and fruits were my base and even Lauren agreed it was good! I named mine “Orangeyouglad its not bitter,” because its sweet.

We had to kind of hustle from our vermouth class to get to our Flamenco show about 15 minutes away from our class. We got there right as the doors were opening and thank goodness we did, because it filled up fast. Turns out the place we picked was the oldest Flamenco bar in town, but they packed people in. We were not so impressed. The music was fine and the dancers were fine – it just wasnt great is all. Definitely an experience.

After the Flamenco show I just REALLY wanted fries. Lauren, in her true foodie fashion, was able to find a fry stand about 10 minutes away! We headed that way and I convinced her to get a bucket of fries. I also then told her I may finish them on my own (I did not, she was right). It was a pretty busy evening, but a great one!

Tomorrow we go to Sagrada Familia and one of the Gaudi apartments for a night show. It’s supposed to rain, but hopefully it will hold off.
